Luggage.  Seems like a lot but it is for 18 months.  We got pretty good at dragging it all around.  We flew from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles. Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia and Sydney to Brisbane.  We stayed near the Mission Office while Elder Wright practiced driving on the left side of the road.  He is doing well although he doesn't think so.  I try to be a good co-pilot and navigator.  I am not ready to try driving yet.  We got some other training, went to the Brisbane temple and then we were sent on to our area. Southampton, Australia a seven-hour drive north from Brisbane.  It is a town of about 79,000 people.  It is called the beef capitol of Australia because they have some processing plants just outside of town.  The locals call the town "Rocky".  They shorten everything.

Our flat (apartment) is very nice.  They don't have central air but have wall mounted air conditioners in the bedroom and living room.  The church is not very far away.  They have a good-sized indoor mall, air conditioned, where you can find most everything.

We have not seen any kangaroos yet except a couple of dead ones near the road. So instead of deer warning signs they have emu and kangaroo warning signs.  LOL

We had our first District zoom meeting and then fed the young Sister Missionaries.  I forgot how giggly girls can be.  They are amazing with strong testimonies. Sister Nielsen is going home in a little over a week.  She is very bubbly and has been a great example already.

We look at our world clock to see what time it is at home and try to wrap our heads around the fact that most of the time we are a day ahead of you.

It is so nice to have been able to unpack and find a place for all the stuff in our suitcases.

The temperature right now with humidity feels like 91 degrees.  It will get warmer as December moves along as this is their summer.  It is weird to drive around and see Christmas decorations up and hearing Christmas music in the mall. People in general have been very kind.  We look forward to getting to know them better and get involved in doing some community service.  Love You All.

  2. Good stuff, Sister Wright! Now I've got a picture of kangeroo roadkill in my mind, haha. But that is tempered by your descriptions of the kind people you've met and the interesting places you've already been. Keep sharing!
